Welcome to On the Move, Chesterfield Borough Councils Choice Based Lettings System which allocates properties to applicants on the waiting list.
News of New Local Lettings Plan
We have introduced a Local Lettings Plan which allows residents from neighbouring Local Authorities (Bolsover District Council and North East Derbyshire District Council) who do not meet the current residency criteria, to register and apply for hard to let flats only.
Please see the Local Lettings Plan here
Important Message in Relation to Letting Houses
Properties that have adaptations will initially be filtered to applicants that have medical needs. General needs properties i.e properties with no adaptations or minor adaptations will be filtered to general needs applicants (applicants with no medical points). Bidding positions might not be accurate.
This is to ensure that Chesterfield Borough Council makes best use of our stock.
News on Bungalows
We have recently amended the eligibility rules for bungalows, if you are between 55 years of age and State Pension age you should be able to place bids on one bedroom bungalows. If you are State Pension age and over, you will be able to place bids on any bungalow, one or two bedrooms.
However, eligibility restrictions will still apply to the allocation of all bungalows subject to the following preferences.
Preference will be given to :-
1. Applicants of Pension Credit qualifying age
2. Applicants who have a physical disability that significantly affects their mobility (regardless of age). The applicant must be claiming high rate DLA for mobility indefinitely or in receipt of enhanced rate PIP for mobility awarded for 3 years or more
3. Applicants over 55 may also be considered
If you have any questions or problems with placing bids on bungalows, please contact the Housing Options Centre at 73 Low Pavement, Chesterfield or contact us on Chesterfield 345700
News for All Applicants
From the 1st April 2016 Chesterfield Borough Council will consider all applications for Housing with On the Move with regard to tenancy sustainment. All applicants will be asked to complete a Financial Assessment. These Financial Assessments will be included with each application form, unfortunately if the Financial Assessments are not returned with the completed application form, the application will remain suspended until this information is provided. If there are issues disclosed that could have an impact upon tenancy sustainability applicants will be referred to the appropriate agency for help and advice. On the Move allows anyone with an active application on the Housing Register, to search, select and apply for a new home of their choice across Chesterfield (within the usual eligibility criteria). Each week we advertise newly available properties across the Borough including Housing Association properties.
How does the system work?
Applicants will be awarded points which reflect their housing need and placed into 1 of 4 bands. To register applicants must complete a housing application form (Click here to down load a housing application form.)
Many of our Properties will be advertised for applicants to bid on from Thursdays at 00:01 am and the bidding will end on the following Tuesday at 11:59 pm. No properties will be advertised on a Wednesday. Applicants will be able to bid on up to 3 properties per week for which they are eligible.
Properties will be advertised with a preferred band which is listed on the advert. Any applicant who is eligible can bid on the property regardless of their band however preference will be given to the advertised band.
